Projector UPDATE!

I received an email from a WeCookier. She relayed some information to me that I was unaware of. I did some checking on my own and will pass it along...

AAXA Technologies, the company that makes the PICO projectors, is in the process of transferring ownership to another company.

If you have been trying to buy a PICO projector through Amazon, you likely see 'Currently Unavailable'. You know how big business is. It can take months to transfer ownership.

Even though I am delighted with the PICO, I plan on purchasing an AKASO projector. I do not feel right about referring you to a product I've never owned.

If you read my last periodical, I spoke about the AKASO moving towards the #1 spot in popularity with cookiers. I did a breakdown of the 3 most popular ones some time ago. Here is the link to that page.

Ohhh my.

Last week, I found something that I wish I had had when I first started decorating.

I usually do not have a problem with air bubbles with my recipe. However, when I have to make enough royal icing for 2 or more dozen with the same base color, that's when I get the bubbles. Ugh!

If you are tired of mixing by hand and still get bubbles, this is for you. I've updated this tools page. Have a look. You can thank me later.

Shop Gotta-havs

I've added quite a few products to the shop throughout January, including:

-cookie-cutter sets

-piping tips set

-Russian piping tip set

-RI transfer sheets

That brings you to a gift.

This is a 14-page royal icing transfer pack! Thank you for supporting me for the last 6 years! The image link will be active for you until this Saturday (the 31st), at midnight central time.

It will be the first listing that has $0.00 for the price!

It was a 2-dozen set. The stamp on the envelopes was the vet's logo.

The reason I included all of that is that I went ahead and made the royal icing template set for each animal. These animal transfers can be used all year long. I just made them Christmasy.

Marketing Your Business

1. Want more cookie orders? How about offering an incentive for customers? Recently, I posted presale cookies and offered 6 extra cookies for free for the first 2 customers to place an order. I had 6 people within 5 minutes!

2. Get organized enough to know what your presales are going to be each month. Make a printout of a presales order form. Fill in the offered cookies by hand and place them in the cookie boxes.

3. Have you visited insurance offices and left your calling card, er, I mean calling cookie? If it's possible, make a couple of cookies of their logo. People love seeing their own information on cookies!

Tips and Hacks

1. The biggest tip today for royal icing is how to get rid of air bubbles, fast and easy. Dentists use this, and so do resin artists. Hop over to my page and take a gander through this link: Get rid of air bubbles easy!

2. I lazy suzans and courousels as organizers. A few years ago, I bought 2 pencil/paintbrush holders from Dollar Tree. I placed each of them on a cookie turntable with a rubber disc and placed them on top.

I put all of my edible markers in one and my paintbrushes in the other. So cheap and handy!

3. Let's talk round cookies. It's such a pain when they do not hold their shape. I saw this hack the other day...

Immediately after they come out of the oven, place a round glass over each one (work fast), and gently swirl to make them perfectly round again. I haven't tried this, but I will next time I have round cookies to make.
